Lake Guntersville State Park

The mountains meet the lakes at Lake Guntersville State Park in Marshall County. As the Tennessee River wraps its way around Northeast Alabama, it creates Lake Guntersville. The 6,000-acre park sits on the banks of Alabama’s largest lake and is a true destination for outdoor recreation, including fishing and boating. Beautiful vistas of the waterway are visible from the hiking trails. The park provides multiple trails of varying topography and difficulty that wind more than 36 miles around the park and the lake.

While hikers and bikers enjoy these multiple paths within the park, horseback enthusiasts will find what they need along the horse trails in Town Creek.
Lake Guntersville State Park has also been the epicenter of Alabama’s Bald Eagle Restoration Program. Thanks to decades of conservation and release programs started in the 1980s, the park is a premier destination for viewing the majestic birds.
